About Us
Since 1984 the association has been representing the independent care sector throughout the Tameside area.
Our association is not for profit and is keen to showcase the positive impact that indepent care can have within a wider social care framework, and we advocate improvements in the elderly care sector.
We maintain that person centered care is an intrinsic philosophy when it comes to delivering care for the elderly. We treat individuals as individuals.
Through our members we represent 40% of all elderly care beds in the Tameside area.

The Care Homes Association Of Tameside is here to help you with the care of your elderly relative. One of the most difficult dilemmas of modern life is what to do when, even with support, it's no longer possible for an elderly relative to look after themselves at home.
At such a sensitive and stressful time it can often be a tremendous burden to find out who can best offer the advice and facilities which you feel your parents or grandparents, aunts and uncles deserve. Many modern care homes also now offer all the necessary facilities to look after the most vulnerable of residents.
The choice is yours
It is your right to choose. There are over 40 care homes in the Tameside area. The Care Homes Association of Tameside represents many excellent care home operators who have dedicated themselves to providing the very best in care and accommodation.
Welcome advice
The advice of the Association, for anyone looking for care, whether it is long-term, 24- hour care in a residential or nursing home, respite care or any other form of short-term care, is to ensure that you have a good look around everything that is on offer and choose the home that best suits you or your loved one, rather than settle for the first option available.
- If you are informed by anyone that you must go into a particular home because that is the only one that will get funding from social services, you are being misled
- Do not accept this as it is not true. You are entitled by law to choose and be funded in the home of your choice
Your Moral & Legal Rights
You are entitled to your own choice whether you require:
- Long-term care in a residential or nursing home
- Respite care
- Short-term convalescence
- Re-enablement where you just need to be equipped with the skills to return home
- Recuperation
Choice Reduction
Tameside Council has a contract with Meridian Healthcare (formerly TEL) and the council has a policy which states that anyone who doesn't exercise their right to choose will be sent to a Meridian Home. However, always remember you have a choice. If a Meridian Care Home is the home of your choice, this is fine. However, everyone has the basic human right of choice by law and if you do not want to reside in a Merdian Home, you do not have to.
You can demand the right to have your care afforded to you or your loved one in the care home you choose.

- Can this home provide the necessary level of care?
- How long is this care needed?
- Could the needed level of care change?
- Is the care suitably physically? (ie wheelcare access)
- Is the home a right fit?
- Could you imagine your loved one here?
- Can we bring our own furniture and decorations?
- Are the bedrooms comfortable and appropiate?
- Are the communal areas confortable and appropiate?
- How easy is visiting going to be?
- Is the area right?
- What can be done to improve the quality of life?
- How will care be paid for?

Here at CHAoT we advocate high quality person centered care, and as such.
- All members must be registered with the CQC and maintain that registration
- All members must be contracted to provide care in Tameside
- All members must be independantly owned
- All members must be in good standing with CHAoT
Auden House Care Home
Auden House is a privately run residential home. We care for eighteen elderly people in homely surroundings in an exclusive part of East Manchester.
Balmoral Care Home
Balmoral Care Home located in Mottram, Hyde is family run with over twenty four years of experience and our Residential Manager has over twenty years experience.

Charnley House Care Home
Charnley House Care Home has been providing quality care for the elderly of Tameside since 1969. The premises are family owned and run and has been designed and furnished to provide a homely environment. An excellent level of care is provided by our highly trained staff without using agency or bank staff and our meals are freshly made on the premises 4 times a day. We care like you do.
Fairfield View Care Centre

Parkhill provides 24 hour nursing care and is proud of their high quality service promoting independence and dignity. We offer short term and longer term care in comfortable and professional facilities.
Staley House Care Home
Staley House has been in operation for over 15 years and enjoys an excellent reputation for providing quality care. We aim to enable older people to continue living as independently as possible by giving them care and support consistent with their needs. We value each and every individual who comes to live at Staley House. All residents are assured that they will be treated with respect and dignity according to their individual needs and wishes.
St Lawence Lodge Care Home
St. Lawrence's Lodge is an independent and friendly residential care home that has remained in the same hands for almost 25 years.
